Bicycle dealers
Who is the target group?
Bicycle retailers are usually the “unknown” stakeholders in the promotion of urban cycling. These may include bike manufacturers and retailers, electric bicycle suppliers, related trade and professional associations.
How can the target group benefit from PRESTO?
Bicycle dealers can benefit from PRESTO through trainings about pedelecs to raising awareness about the need of offering electric bicycles beside traditional bicycles. This approach is meant to reach a wider target group of users and have more people cycling. Dealers will also have a supportive role in the project in organising local events, such as demonstration of pedelecs and other bicycle events in the five PRESTO cities. They will become an active partner in the local cycling coalition. The “try-out days” of pedelecs in the five PRESTO cities will serve to get people more confident about cycling and see the advantages for themselves. More demand for conventional and electric bicycles is expected.
How is the target group involved in PRESTO?
PRESTO aims to fully involve nine retailers in Bremen, Grenoble, Tczew, Venice and Zagreb as dissemination partners which are close to the individual users (customers). PRESTO will encourage dealers not only to sell the “product” bicycle, but also its individual and societal benefits (e.g. healthy, environmental friendly), and to work with other local stakeholders (e.g. cycling groups) in the promotion of daily cycling. Selected retailers will participate in training and e-learning activities during the project lifetime. Retailer associations supporting PRESTO will offer expertise for the training events.
