The battery and motor in electric bicycles result in a number of risks that do not exist in conventional bicycles. Electric bicycles are therefore subject to a set of European harmonised rules and regulation. All those who are considering distributing, selling, renting, leasing, making available, promoting, etc. electric bicycles must be aware of and observe that legislation. This fact sheet is aimed at providing all interested parties with the relevant information.
