Actions Bremen

Bremen motto is “Cycling Innovation and Large Scale Events”.

The PRESTO project activities in Bremen include the following five actions:

Infrastructure planning

Bicycle Parking Plan
Better Bicycle parking conditions for:

• big events like fairs, concerts
• soccer games (Werder Bremen)
• central areas (city centre)

The action will cope with measures against theft, “wild parking“, peaks in public transport needs.

Promotion of urban cycling

Promotion & campaigns for cycle-friendly large-scale events
Promotion of cycling to central places and events (e.g. soccer games, fairs, Ev. Kirchentag):

• flexible parking offers
• additional bikes to rent
• information and communication
• workshop with experts (2009)

Bremen Bicycle Festivals
The biggest open air event of ADFC is the yearly bicycle festival with shows, games and a lot of information around cycling and cycles.

How many Cyclists we are!
A Bicycle Counter with big display at a central route demonstrates:

• the big number of cyclists
• the effects of cycling on carbon dioxide reduction
• makes motivation stronger
• less difficulties with “normal“ traffic census

Will be established in 2010.

Promotion of electrically assisted bicycles (pedelecs)

E-Bike Presentation
At fairs and festivals in 2009 & 2010:

• exhibition & test parcours
• for transports & every day
• model region Bremen-Oldenburg for pilot projects on electric mobility (1 of 8 in Germany, supported by BMVBS)
